Apple has finally made available the highly anticipated AI-generated Bitmoji feature, which was previously only accessible as a public beta. The latest update, iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, brings this exciting new feature to users, allowing them to create customized emojis using written prompts.
What is Genmoji?
Genmoji, initially debuted at WWDC 2024 in June, is a feature built into the iPhone’s emoji keyboard that lets users generate original emojis with prompts. For instance, ‘A sloth wearing a suit and tie’ can be used as a prompt to create a unique emoji. Genmojis can also be created from photos of people. These custom-made emojis can be used not only in Messages but also in Stickers and Tapbacks.
How to Create Customized Emojis with Apple Intelligence
To use Genmoji, ensure that Apple Intelligence is enabled on your device. Then, launch the Messages app and start a new message or go to an existing chat. Click on the emoji keyboard located in the bottom left corner and type the prompt into the search bar. Choose ‘Create New Emoji’ just below it.
After a few seconds, Apple Intelligence will generate multiple versions of the AI-generated emoji based on your custom description. To save a favorite Genmoji, tap ‘Add’ in the top-right corner to permanently include that new emoji on the keyboard.
To save a Genmoji that someone else sends, long press on it and select ‘Emoji Details,’ which will display the prompt used to generate it. There is also an option to download the custom-made emoji.
When Will Genmoji be Officially Launched?
Genmoji is currently available with Apple’s iOS 18.2 update. This means that users who have updated their devices can start enjoying this exciting new feature.
